Role Overview
The organization is seeking an Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager to support the accounting function during major system implementations and ongoing operational improvements. This role will work closely with senior leadership and has strong growth potential, including the opportunity to advance into a Controller position following successful system implementation and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and assist with two major system implementations:
- ERP transition to a new accounting system
- Payroll system conversion to a new platform
- Assist with post-implementation stabilization, process documentation, and optimization
- Perform and oversee general accounting functions including depreciation, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting
- Manage and develop multiple direct reports
- Partner with the CFO on process improvements, system efficiencies, and strengthening accounting infrastructure
- Support construction accounting functions, including job costing and project-based financial reporting
- Assist with month-end close and financial reporting as needed
Experience & Qualifications
- Construction accounting experience strongly preferred
- Candidates with strong non-construction backgrounds may be considered if they bring experience with robust ERP systems such as NetSuite or SAP
- Experience supporting ERP or payroll system implementations is a plus
- Prior experience with Sage Intacct is helpful but not required
- Senior Accountants ready to step into a leadership role are encouraged to apply
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
- Degree requirement may be waived for candidates with substantial construction accounting experience
